Suggested Color Themes:

Single color - Blend deeper and paler shades of one color for variety.

Combing Colors - To create contrasting partnerships use the following combinations red (or pink) and green or blue and yellow or purple and orange. Harmonious pairings include pink and purple or blue and green or yellow and orange.

White - Ivory and cream are more flattering than pure white.  Also white flowers usually have undertones of yellow, pink, blue or green.  White can be combined with any color.

Yellows - can be cool or warm and the two variations do not mix well.  Use greenish yellows with green, cream, white or soft blue.  Golden yellows can be combined with oranges and warm reds.

Orange - is definitely a challenge.  Apricot, peach and buff are easier to use with cream and buttery yellow.  Bright intense orange goes well with warm yellow, gold, terracotta or warm reds.  Intense orange can also be cooled with blue, green or purple.

Red - The addition of green, cream or white helps tone this color down.  Blue red can be mixed with reddish purples.

Pink - A feminine and romantic color. Cool pinks should not be mixed with blue undertones and warm pinks should not be mixed with yellow undertones.  Pink and green is classic.  Cool pinks look great with purple, blue and silver.  A coral pink can be combined with oranges and pinkish reds for a tropical look.

Purple - variations from lilac to mauve to plum and almost black.  Pair deep purples with dark reds, blues or pinks for a jewel like look.  Paler shades should be paired with soft blues and pale pinks.  Dark purples can also be combined with orange.

Blue - Range from true blue to lavender.  Blue blends well with white, cream, cool pink and purple.  True blue looks great with yellow.

Green - is invaluable with all other colors.  Lime and apple green pairs well with white, cream, blue and yellow. You can also contrast green with red, pink and purple.
